Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Assistant Secretary Anthony Gerard Gonzales made the announcement during a televised briefing organized by the Presidential Communications Operations Office.
“That’s good news but it does not mean that we will have to be complacent because we did not have a confirmed case yesterday,” he said.
Central Visayas is composed of the provinces of Bohol, Cebu, Negros Oriental and Siquijor as well as highly-urbanized cities Cebu, Lapu-Lapu and Mandaue.
Gonzales said Visayas currently has 49 COVID-19 infections (Central Visayas: 30; Western Visayas: 18; and Eastern Visayas: 1) even as he assured the public that the government is ready if the situation worsens.
